Prime Minister rules out coalition between her bloc and opposition Party of Regions
KYIV, May 22: Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has ruled out the possibility of her political bloc forming a grand coalition with the opposition Party of Regions. The Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc’s press service quoted her as saying: “For us, there is only one coalition which creates possibilities for putting things in order in the country.”
Tymoshenko also said her Cabinet was constantly dealing with powerful resistance. “There are only two ways: either we agree with what happened before 2004, or we make real changes. Unfortunately, we are facing powerful resistance,” she said.
Commenting on the possibility of forming a new coalition in the Ukrainian Parliament, the deputy head of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc parliamentary faction, MP Mykola Tomenko, said a coalition consisiting of the opposition Party of Regions and the propresidential Our Ukraine-People’s Self-Defence bloc would be formed after the Kyiv mayoral election on May 25
