Ukraine is a typical European country in the fact that it Loves it’s Football!
Ukraine has 5 Leagues of football. The Top League is the Vyscha Liha, otherwise known as the Ukrainian Premier League.
The ‘Premier League’ was formed in 1991 after the collapse of the old Soviet Union and August 2008 will embark on the 18th season.
The next league down is the Persha Liha or the Ukrainian First League. And the three lower leagues than the Persha Liha are the Druha Liha A, Druha Liha B, and Druha Liha C.
FC Shakhtar Donetsk are the reigning champions for 2008.
SC Tavriya Simferopol won the first ever Premier League Crown. Since then only FC Shakhtar Donetsk or the World reknowned Dynamo Kyiv have ever won the title.

Dynamo Kyiv has won twelve league titles, nine Ukrainian Cups, one UEFA Super Cup and two UEFA Cup Winners’ Cups. They have also won 13 USSR Championships, 9 USSR Cups, and 3 USSR Super Cups.
Dynamo’s home is the 16,900 capacity Lobanovsky Dynamo Stadium in Kyiv.
The club also plays in the 83,450 capacity Olimpiysky National Sports Complex in Kyiv for big games such as UEFA cup competitions.
