Prices increased by 10-25% in just the final two months of 2006.
New blocks of flats are springing up across the capital of this former Soviet republic.
Horbal nominated as Kyiv Mayor

The political council of the Party of Regions has decided to nominate MP Vasyl Horbal for the Kyiv mayor post.

The council decided this on April 10.
The political council has decided to recommend the party’s city chapter to nominate Horbal as Mayor for Kyiv.
The party chapter’s conference is held on April 12.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Rada called early mayoral and city council elections in Kyiv and established the voting day on May 25 2008.

Ukraine Asks Russia to Stop

The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine is expressing concerns with regards to the latest anti-Ukrainian statements by Russian officials, and calling on Russia to stop threatening Ukraine due to its intentions to join NATO.

This follows from the ministry’s statement.
“The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine demands that the Russian side stop threatening Ukraine and observe the agreement on friendship, cooperation and partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation,” the statement reads.
